Do you want to make the long, luscious locks of your dreams a reality? Well, you’re not alone. The hair extensions market is expected to reach a value of $1.2 billion by 2024!
While the statistic may be comforting for those women considering some hair magic, many women still wonder:
· Are hair extensions permanent?
· Will extensions damage my natural hair?
· Do hand-tied extensions interfere with my hair growth?
· How much maintenance do extensions require?
We’re ready to give you all the answers you’ll need to say, “Bring it on!” to your new favorite look.
Are hair extensions permanent?
Why settle for short or thin hair when you can have gorgeous Rapunzel hair in no time? There are many different types of hair extensions, so you may be wondering where to even start. When you visit a professional hairstylist who specializes in hair extensions, you’ll be able to determine exactly which types of extensions work best with your hair length and lifestyle.
So, are hair extensions permanent? The short answer to this very common question is no. All hair extensions are removable. The length of wear just depends on the method you choose.
If you are looking for a set that can be quickly (and temporarily) applied at home for a particular event or occasion, hair extensions with clips or other DIY extensions may be the way to go. These removable hair pieces can be washed and styled like normal hair, and are great if you’re looking to instantly change things up on occasion. However, these types of extensions require hairstyling skills to blend and apply them for every wear in a way that looks natural.
The most convenient, long-lasting, and natural-looking extensions are without a doubt, hand-tied luxury hair extensions. These are a semi-permanent option that blends seamlessly with your natural hair. They stay in for months (and even up to a year!) with minimal maintenance required.
Will hair extensions damage my natural hair?
Hand-tied extensions are truly a work of art. They are considered the best hair extensions because they don’t damage your hair! While clip-in and other types of DIY extensions can sometimes pull at the scalp, the hand-tied application method decreases the amount of tension on your hair and head.
Do hand-tied extensions interfere with my hair growth?
This is one of the most common questions we receive, and we’re here to ease your fears. As long as your hair extensions are applied by a professional (like at our hair salon in Temecula, CA), your natural hair will remain as is and continue to grow beautifully. In fact, many clients choose to add luxury hair extensions while waiting for their natural hair to grow out to their desired length!
How much maintenance do bead hair extensions require?
Bead hair extensions and hand-tied extensions must be installed and maintained by a professional. You can prolong the life of your gorgeous new locks in a few ways.
We recommend returning to the salon every 8-10 weeks for a maintenance appointment for the best results. At the appointment, your stylist will move the extension strands up closer to your scalp as the natural hair continues to grow.
Additionally, your at-home haircare routine will play an important role in keeping your new look as fresh as the day you walked out of the salon. Try not to use super-high heat when using hot tools, and when you wash, make sure to gently work the shampoo in between the wefts, avoiding tangling. It is also important to only use styling products on the ends of your hair, as it can cause the beads to slip if you get too close to the scalp.
